I got my hands on a 2020 Toyota Corolla sedan Le with 28,142 miles. This car was manufactured in America (Mississippi).
When I was driving it, the suspension was acting up and I discovered that the shock absorbers needed to be replaced. The second thing that I noticed is that the electronic parking brake is completely broken. I also saw that there is no remote to unlock and lock the doors. Does Toyota still offer just a key to unlock the doors for the Corolla? Has Toyota quality hit an all-time low?
Everything has gotten worse. The Corolla is still just about the best in that class of vehicle (best of a bad lot). The one you drove sounds like it was unusually problematical. Possibly it was abused or had been in an accident.
It wasn't in an accident.
Then either it is a rare lemon or it was subject to serious abuse. Although everything is lower in quality these days Corollas still do not deteriorate that quickly under normal conditions.
Problems to that extent with a 2 to 3 year old Corolla isn't normal and more than likely the previous owner did not take care of it and abused it as much as they could.
For the key and remote I think it depends on the trim and model year and even the 2022 going from memory the L trim at the very least doesn't have it.
Would you say that Toyota's quality has gone down even on a 2 year old Corolla?
That's exactly what I responded to in my initial response/comment; no the Corolla quality has not gone down. The car you have was either a lemon that didn't get repaired or it was extremely abused.
Yea, everyone and especially Honda have gotten significantly worse.
Only a very select few (Peugeot, Opel, ...) have gotten better, but none of them sell cars in the US.

Well on my old Corolla, considered their "lowest low", it was considered troublesome by 2010's standards - now it's considered very solid by 2020's standards.
I have not had any of these issues with mine, so far, with over 110k miles.
Toyota has had many all-time-lows in recent years, and I have a feeling the worst is yet to come.
The last Corolla with an automatic that could last 300k was built ten years ago,
maybe some later ones but they're all base model "L" trim level and only have 4 speeds...
This car was manufactured in America
I do not think that's really an "excuse".
The Toyota CH-R is built in turkey and yet quality seems fine.
Although I've recently saw a Toyota (European Yaris Cross Hybrid) built in France and the body panel alignment looked awful.
Wasn’t there a forum member with a brand new Corolla who once reported that Toyota replaced his suspension under warranty because it was found to be faulty?
It may have been a few months ago.
