I am looking at Honda 2007 crv for 4700 dollars with12300 miles on it ots a dealership & I'm looking at a Honda pilot 2009 126000 & he wants 6900 from a personal owner. Which one would be a better deal?
I would stay away from the Honda Pilot. MY2009-2015 had the V6 engine (J35Z4) which has cylinder deactivation (or what Honda calls VCM), which can potentially wear out/damage the engine over time, and that one already has 126,000 miles and not clear if the previous owner disabled it or not via an aftermarket device (that only mitigates the issues but does not eliminate them).
Regarding the CRV is that a good buy (123,000 miles and NOT 12,300 miles right?) for $4,700? @Kerem can chime in as pricing is not my forte.
The CR-V price is excellent if its really 12300 miles. If its 123000 miles, then its still a pretty good price, though you would still want to negotiate. I'm suprised its that good for a dealer. The market you are in seems to be lower than where I am. You would want to check out similar listings as well.
You would want a mechanic to do a pre-purchase inspection on it to make sure its been taken care of.
The Pilot price is OK I mean if you don't need the extra space you should just get the CR-V assuming everything checks out.
The 2007 Honda CRV is the best deal because it has 12,300 miles which is very low. But I will pass on it since it's from a dealership. So you can't really know if the car is taken care of or not.
Assuming everything checks for both cars. The Pilot is bigger than the CR-V. The CR-V is more nimble than the Pilot.
I personally prefer the second generation Pilot. It's my favorite Pilot design out of the 3 generations. And it has room for more people.
But, get the CRV if better MPG and lower gas cost is important.
