Help with rack and pinion replacement

I am replacing the steering rack on my 2006 sentra 1.8l.

I would like to flush the power steering fluid while doing it but im getting mixed advice on whether i need to vacuum pump the system to get any air out. It's been slowly leaking fluid from the boot.

Is there a way I can flush it by just installing the new rack then bleed the system while putting fresh power steering fluid in?

Also, any pro tips would be very helpful. I have no experience with the power steering system other than replacing inner and outter tie rods.

Thanks a lot.

You don't need to vacuum the system. You need to put the car on jack stands, drain the lowest point in the car of power steering fluid. The high side, where it's metal. Once you've gotten all of it, when it's time for new fluid, close off the high side, make sure the fluid is high enough on the dipstick, turn the wheel lock to lock a few times before starting the car. Start the car and turn it lock to lock, while gradually adding more fluid until the reservoir says full on the dipstick, and the car isn't whining anymore. When the car is running, the steering self-bleeds as you go lock to lock.
