How do i bypass my Thermostatic Vacuum Switching Valve (TVSV)?

Hi Scott.

I just recently discovered a broken TVSV after my car wouldn't start. I used some epoxy to repair it but it seems to have failed. I am certain the TVSV has been taken off the shelves in my country and it won't be another 6 months before I can find a replacement overseas if I am lucky. How do I bypass the TVSV in the meantime?

My vehicle details below.

Year: 1991-93, Make/Model: Daihatsu Feroza, Type: Manual 5 speed, Engine: HD-C (Carburetor).

Many thanks

Well good luck finding die hard. Sue parts here in the United States is pretty much impossible. But if the plastic part broke, what you can do is this drill it out a little bit bigger then get some type of plastic tubing you could find somewhere that would fit inside that new drilled out hole and epoxy that on. Then you will be able to connect any kind of vacuum hoses to it. I do that all the time

Hi Scotty...

I found a replacement TVSV and installed it but to my dismay my problem persists - car starts ok on cold but as soon as engine reaches operating temp it suffocates till it shuts off completely. After that I am unable to start it again (hot/warm start).

Could there be something wrong with the carburetor or vacuum lines??
