I have a 2004 Nissan Titan 5.6 L V8 engine with the check engine light, VDC slip and ABS light on I've tried to reset the ECU and reset the ABS, I've also cleaned the throttle body because I had a high idle problem. All of my coils seem fine but I haven't checked the spark plugs. For the ABS I clean the ABS sensor it wasn't damaged or broken. I've checked for vacuum leaks I don't hear anything but a humming sound but I believe it is coming from the power steering pump which probably needs to be replaced cuz this has a slight leak. I have codes p0420 p0430 p0507 p0300. The truck runs pretty good but it just seems like it doesn't have the power that I thought it would I have 293,000 mi on it but according to the private owner that sold it to me he stated the engine only had 160 something thousand miles on it and that he didn't reset the cluster. I know I gave you a lot but where is the most common issue and what can I check first?
P0420 and P0430 are catalytic converter codes. Even if you clear the codes, they will return, usually within a single drive cycle. See the engine codes section. If you're lucky, these might be sensor or electrical problems, rather than the cat ($$$$)
The P0300 is a general misfire code (all cylinders). Chronic misfires will set often set off P0420 & 0430 because of inefficiency of the engine. That, too, will not go away, permanently, until it is dealt with.
Given the misfires, it's not a stretch that they are producing a P0507 code: High RPMs.
@geriscan where do I start to look for this problem. What sensors or what can I check for first ??
I'd start with the P0300. A poorly running engine would likely produce these other codes.
Why the misfires? Coils? Spark plugs? Here's one list: https://www.fixdapp.com/blog/p0300-nissan#:~:text=Nissan%20code%20P0300%20indicates%20that,the%20engine%20in%20your%20Nissan.
One word of warning: Don't just "fire the parts cannon." You could spend a lot of money and not fix the problem. Get a diagnosis by someone who will guarantee their fix.
Another word of warning: This is an engine with nearly 300K. The cylinders might just be worn, causing these other problems. If so, you're well-advised to get a general inspection of the truck, to determine whether it's cost-effective to get a warranteed factory engine, or to move on.
Good luck.
There's extensive talk about the ABS light remaining on at the Titan talk forum: https://www.titantalk.com/search/436881/?q=ABS+light&o=relevance
There's also conversation about VDC slip, here: https://www.titantalk.com/search/436884/?q=vdc+slip&o=relevance
The P0507 is a idle air control DTC. There is a relearn procedure. One example is here, for a Frontier: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uR4LabODAAw
If you're in a state that gets emissions tested, the vehicle will fail inspection with P0420, P0430 and P0300. And if you don't get the P0300 taken care of, the engine will have a short remaining life.
Good luck.
