How does a software update fix oil dilution?

For the past few months, I've been reading about software updates fixing oil dilution.  How does that work?  I would have though oil dilution is almost always a mechanical problem, not a software problem.

Perhaps the software gives commands to run the engine a bit hotter, to burn up the gas, via injector timing. At least, that is what this article reported. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-china-autos-honda/japans-honda-to-recall-350000-cars-in-china-over-engine-issue-idUSKBN1FW124

Not a true fix, IMHO, but a patch.

Fascinating.

well if the fuel injection is sprained too much gas and that can overwhelm the Pistons and they could make them so they run a bit leaner that could fix it
