Hi Scotty,
I have often heard that when you spot rust in corner of a trunk, wheel well, etc, that it is actually just the tip of the iceberg and there will be much more rust not visible on the surface. How often have you found this to be true?

Not always.
It depends on the area, and where the source of the rust/moisture is, and if the exposure to moisture is ongoing.
Is there a reason you ask? It might help to post photos.
