2017 corolla 52k km

no running problems but i want to know if i could still do the things scotty did in his video doing this will make your car last better and longer

he does it mostly in old cars, can i do it in mine?

seems easy enough and nothing wrong can come out of it

what spray does he use?

i saw mass airflow sensor spray, did he used it to clean the throttle body as well?

Yours is the year before the the new 2018+ models which means it had a 2ZR-FE variety. Compared to the new A25A-FKS engines(2018+), the 2ZR doesn't have direct injection. So throttle body cleaner and the whatnot is not really super necessary or recommend unless you got an actual problem. You can do it. Just kinda not really doing much of nothing tbh haha. On older cars for sure it's a good thing every once in a while but this is like by the year type of deal, not every couple weeks or even months. Any spray that you get specific for mass airflow or throttle body would do the job though.

1ZR-FAE 1.6, Yup, MPI
would sure like to have it replaced with the 2.0 dynamic force! that's a strong engine
my corolla is really slow and demands high revvs on highway speeds
it's the family car so meh, i'll get something better for myself when it's time, maybe an accord

Yeah man, whatever floats your boat. It's still low miles for sure. Practically new haha! I've been through hella cars in my life already. I can't keep track of how many I've been though anymore xD nothin much to do to make your car run better btw. It's the grocery getter of grocery getters. Just stick to maintenance and it will last forever.

one more question, the engine oil cap says to put 0w20 if im not mistaken, my mechanic fills my car with 5w30, he says it help protect the engine because of the higher viscocity (not much of a price differance)
what do you think?

another question haha 😀
i want to start doing simple stuff by my own like oil and filter change, but in videos i see the have all sorts of tools of different sizes and a cup for the filter, can you recommend some basic tool sets i can buy that will set me up for this?
also, i have a regular jack for the car but not a jack stand like scotty recommends, should i get one?

As long as the 5w-30 be fully synthetic... Still a bit unconventional to me tbh. Ow-20 is better for fuel economy and cold starts... So that reasoning be wrong there... Makes me think that the guy just heard a thing and considers it truth. I would still go with recommend unless other factors reside to why he uses 5w-30. Oil and filter changes do be simple. You can find a basic set of tools that won't set you back a ton pretty much anywhere. My rec is Pittsburgh tools as they are all lifetime warrenty so those are good beginner tools. Still use some to this day. You don't need a cup for the filter, the 3 prong ones work better for taking them off. So one of those and you should be set. jack stands are safety so getting a pair would be nice if you were to start your own repairs. Just don't get cheap ones of those. They aint worth cheap. You need a good set of em if you do plan on getting them. If you are planning to do your own oil changes I'd also recommend disposable gloves, safety glasses and washers to spare for the oil drain plugs. I estimate that all this initially should be just a little over $200 to start. But then you are set for life.

That $200 includes the gloves, safety glasses, washers, tools, and jackstands. For tools I'd figure you might want to be looking for other basics in the future so a good metric set of sockets and a set of wrenches is also included in this estimate

You can try but I don’t think you need any of those cleaning yet. Your car has very low mileage.

anything to do at this milage to make the car run better besides filling tires and regular maintenance?

Nothing really for now. Just stick to the car manual recommendations and enjoy your car.
