hey scotty longtime follower of your content. Just wondered if you’ve seen the new Hyundai hydrogen teaser as well as the fact that the US govt didn’t allow these patents to be developed on since 2010. Interesting seeing as we have had the capabilities to transform the auto industry as well as aerospace. For some reason, the govt just didn’t want us to even develop the technology. Why are EVs even being pushed or developed? Clearly there’s a better alternative. Just saying.

It really doesn't matter to me personally because there's no way that ICE engines will be going away within my lifetime. Even if the future ban on new ICE cars takes place, which may or may not actually happen, there is a very large installed base that will be around for a long time. Not to mention that the grand plans for a battery-electric future based on solar and wind power are doomed to failure which anyone can plainly see if they do the math. (Something politicians seem incapable of doing.) I will not switch and will stick with gasoline power.

Probably part of the resistance to hydrogen is this:

As it stands right now, EV seems to be the future as opposed to hydrogen. Only Toyota and a bit if Honda seems to have a foothold on hydrogen.  If you can even call it a foothold. Not many companies seem interested. Most have a roadmap for battery EV’s.

Technically speaking hydrogen fuel cell cars are basically EV’s. They just use hydrogen to produce the electricity.

There may actually be a third option, which it seems only Honda and maybe GM have utilized. Using the ICE to generate electricity. Honda uses this tech for their hybrids, and GM used it as a range extender for their EV.

I differentiate this tech from traditional hybrid tech, because in this case the ICE acts more like a fuel cell (generate electricity) than a traction motor.

Sorry Tesla fans! {black}:idontknow:  Hydrogen is actually the future.

I believe in the USA, the perfect solution is going to be a mix of EV and Hydrogen, while ICE engines become phased out. I don't understand why people get on Hydrogen the way they do. It's actually more sustainable and should be less expensive than a Tesla or those that are coming out now. Hoping that I'm right!

I'll wait and see what shakes out. There has been better products that end up losing. BetaMax versus VHS, HD versus BluRay, etc. I might like the Hydrogen cell concept if it'll be just like gassing up at a pump. That would seem quicker for getting back on the road instead of having to wait 30 minutes for a recharge. I can't say if refueling with liquid hydrogen would be any more dangerous than refueling with petrol. Recharging an EV battery could be dangerous from an explosion and fire also.
