Dear Scotty, love your vids. I bought an 05 Toyota Sequoia SR5 with 126k miles on it. I broke your rule and it has a salvage title from Nevada. It was wrecked new and I saw all the paperwork from the insurance company on what needed replacing and it was all superficial body damage. I think from the damage it was partially rolled into a ditch. The owner salvaged it, "fixed it" lol and drove it until it was traded in and ended up at a lot in Tacoma WA near me. I Bought it for $4,800. and my old Grand Marquis with 195k on it. Shows no codes and runs great except when idling it will jump up 200 rpms for no apparent reason. It was the only one in the greater Seattle area I could afford( mostly u can't find them). I checked the mass air flow and intake and they were immaculate. What's up? Oh yeah, I have been working on and restoring cars most of my life so salvage doesn't scare me at all. I've salvaged half a dozen cars of my own and always made out like a fat rat. lol. I also bought 2, 07 Lexus ES 350s with under 80k on both for 10k each. My wife's was from a dealer and it checked out then but 2 years down the road I started hearing what I call a "soft knock" from the engine. I fear it could be a rod but I don't know these engines that well. We also took it in for trans. service ( fluid only) and those morons flushed it. When they told me that I got angry and said we had better not have any problems or they would hear about it. Well 2 months later and very few miles the damn thing is starting to slip when cold, only sometimes, and only when my wife is driving, of course. My mechanic buddy said it might just not be full of fluid. Should I take it back to them or what? Do those engines have a tendency to knock? Should we just get rid of it? It shows no codes and runs perfect. The other one we bought from a private party and it is still running perfectly fine. Thanks for being there, Your fan, Big Bill {black}:scared:
Good luck with your new vehicles. Just a suggestion, paragraphs would be helpful here.
