Because of Scotty’s advice, I got a 2007 Toyota Matrix and have kept it very well maintained. I love working on cars have found a 1993 F150 with the 302 engine and a standard transmission with 147,000 miles. I’m waiting on the seller to send the CarFax. I’ve wanted an older truck for awhile, but is it a terrible idea to get that truck? Is that generation pretty solid? I had a 99 F150 that was my baby that got totaled by a drunk driver and I’ve wanted another pickup since.
Those are great trucks, especially ones from the 1990s. If you can get it for a good price and it’s rust free, I wouldn’t hesitate to get it. You said you love working on cars, so you could easily fix things that need to be addressed. I would not daily drive it since it is 28 years old - that Matrix is much better for daily use. But, that would be a really cool truck to drive around a couple times a week!
