I found a 96 Camaro Z28 manual with 84k miles for $10k. They say that it had 1 owner, garaged and no accidents, it looks like it but ill find out for sure. Any common problems with 96 Camaros that I should know about before I buy it. Also, I don't know how to drive a manual, but I don't trust anything with an automatic unless it's no older than 2005, or its a Toyota/Honda. Is this a bad idea?

Have a mechanic check it out. The biggest issue on the LT1 V8 Camaros is the OptiSpark ignition system. It sits right beneath the water pump, and if it gets ANY moisture on it you'll start having issues. It is a pain to replace and they aren't cheap at about $800 a shot.

Also check for oil leaks and make sure the clutch is sound. I would take it to a pro for a checkup before purchase.

Also, realize that $10k is enough to get you a more desirable 1998 or newer LS1 V8 Camaro with more power and torque. But for a first car, the LT1 is plenty.

You know what kind of obd port it would have, for a quick scan?

It would be an OBD-II port and is located at the bottom right of your dash in the drivers side footwell. Easy access.

Usually, the oil seals are gonna be cracked because it's been sitting for a long time without lubrication from oil. I assume the owner put some serious mileage before putting it in the garage for a long time. It's not a good idea, but it's not the worst idea. Check with the mechanic if you're willing to buy it.

It was sitting there for long period of time...you might need new tires and get it checked by mechanic for any sort mechanical failure.  It can be a fun car to drive for that price
