Seems like an ok deal make sure you have a good mechanic check out the car before you buy it.

The key to P71 longevity: idle hours.

And how can you tell how many idle hours one has? It is recorded on the gauge cluster if you cycle through, exactly like trip miles are displayed in normal vehicles. So yes, you CAN have a low idle hour car and prove it.

How much wear is an idle hour?

Per Ford, 1 idle hour = 33 driving miles. So just multiply your idle hours by 33 and there you go, you have the mileage wear equivalent. 🙂

P71 is  a Crown Victoria Police Interceptor.

I like those. Even taxi companies use those because of their dependability

Yes the panther models are quite durable just like the Lincoln Towncars.  Police options include Steel wheels which are more durable than the stock ones. Has extra wiring harness for top lights, 12 v access in the trunk and under hood (if optioned) As far that it has low idle times...don't beleive that BS..it might have super idle times survealing houses and parked in front of doughnut stands.  Just understand that as you drive traffic might slow down all around you...

i was looking at a '97 with 70K miles civilian CV , vs a 2009 P71, 107K miles, but has 2884 idle hours, both priced about the same, so i guess the regular CV would be the best buy

In that case, yes it would be.

According to @mod_man 's info, that would be over 90k miles worth of wear on the vehicles + severe driving conditions.
