Please help. My brother has an 2014 Infiniti Q50 with 89k miles on it in NYC.
His transmission appears to slip. RPM increases but car doesn't change gear. Manual shifting mode doesn't work at all. Reverse gear works fine.
We scanned it with my Bluedriver. Code P072.
Also in mode 6 data we have red signal for Catalyst Monitor Bank 2 (Value 23, should be between 28 and 255) and many others with yellow coding (in yellow: Oxygen Sensor Bank Monitor Bank 1 + Bank 2 + Catalyst Monitor Bank 1 + Bank 2 + Fuel System Monitor Bank 1 + Bank 2)
Is the transmission going out or could it be just the output speed sensor?

I assume you mean p0 172 there is no p72 code. If so it's running rich often either blowing head gasket or problems with the fuel injection system

Thanks for your answer. Sorry I mean the code P0720. Bluedriver says "the RPM Sensor Output Shaft Has an Electrical Fault".
What does it mean? Can it only be fixed by a dealer or can I go to a "normal" mechanic?
Any idea how much it could cost to fix it?

You can go to ANY honest mechanic, no need to go to the stealership. Just make sure they have good reviews from the people you trust.
