Hello,

To start, I've noticed a few weeks ago that my 2016 Infiniti Q50 Red Sport takes an extra second or two to start up every now and then. I was looking into it more and then a few days later an engine light displayed. After scanning the code, it was shown as P0087: High fuel pressure too low. I did not have the proper tools to diagnose what part of the fuel system could be causing this code to be thrown so I sent the car in to the dealer to run diagnostics. When I heard back from the dealer they said all that is needed is an update to the chip in the car. This sounds odd to me and I'm not sure how that will fix the low fuel pressure issue that is showing. I'm guessing what really is being done is the code is being cleared with no real fix being done? Does any of that sound right to you?

Mileage?

Clarification: Can you confirm you have 3.0 L twin turbo V6 engine?

It’s a Nissan VQ30DD, it’s fuel system is always broken and always will be broken.

generally, the injectors on this engine tend to get clogged and the high pressure pump is known to fail.

Software could theoretically adjust the way the fuel system works and possibly make it not act up, it’s probably worth a shot as long as they don’t charge you too much for it.

Sometimes software is all you need, but I don’t think this is your case - my guess would be that you probably need to get the injectors cleaned and the fuel pump tested…

OP’s 2016 Infinity Q50 Red Sport comes with a 3.0 L twin turbo V6 engine (VR30DDTT). I am not familiar with that engine but just clarifying.
