Inherited a car

My grandmother gave me her 2016 Kia Optima FE with 31,000 miles on it yesterday and i have no knowledge of KIAs. I was thinking of changing out the tranny fluid and babying it. Are there any problem spots with KIAs that i should know about.

It should probably be good for around 100k miles if you don't push the car hard and keep up with maintenance.

Another option that you may have is to sell it and buy yourself a Toyota or Honda.

They're garbage but just baby it & keep on top of maintainence, it should last to 100k. At that point I'd sell it.

kias aren't the best overall, but can still go awhile with proper maintenance. They seem to like to burn oil/ start to wear out around 100k, so having fresh oil is very important. Do the oil every 5k miles or 10 months, whatever comes first (most oils say they can go longer than that, but oil is cheap, engines are not). Tranny fluid at this point probably isn't necessary, but I don't think it'll hurt much either. Maybe wait till 60k on the trans fluid.

If you have also inherited kia's 100k warranty then you can just get the engine and trans replaced every 50k miles for life LOL

Any problems?  How much time do you have?

Kia vehicles are a problem on their own; they just don't make good quality cars. See what the Kia you inherited is worth right now through places like Carvana, Vroom, etc. and if it's high enough for you use that money to buy a Honda or Toyota.

So far the car seems perfectly fine, she kept up all the maintenance on it. Due to reasons I cannot sell or trade the car in for at least 3 years so either I take it or I don't. I appreciate all these answers, I'll be sure to baby the thing while I can. Who knows, after the 3 years I may sell it and grab a Toyota or Honda.
