Tall vs short oil filter

Is a tall or bigger oil filter better? And supposedly seal and thread fit or right size. Wouldn’t the bigger filter have a better flow of the oil?

use the filter specified in your owner's manual

Not necessarily. I think all oil filters aren't the same as far as their inner diameters. I know they're not the same in their outer diameter, and that's just as important. A friend went to Jiffy Lube or some other chain oil change joint and they either mixed up the oil filters, or they didn't care. The one on hers was too large on the filter's outer diameter, and it caused a significant oil leak; like 1/3 of the oil required for that engine wound up coming back out of out of it when my stepdad changed it. The cleaned oil re-emerges from the center of the filter and is distributed through the engine. Too large of an external diameter means the engine oil won't mate up with the filter properly, causing a leak; the oil pump is on the inside of the engine, opposite the filter on most cars. If they're the same outside diameter, but a longer filter, I'm pretty sure you need to compensate and add more oil to the engine. Bottom line is, make sure the oil filter is designed specifically for your car. You need to maintain a certain oil pressure, and a larger filter will lessen it.
