Is the ignition tumbler bad and need to be replaced?

I have a 2016 Nissan Rogue with 85K miles.  Without warning, the key will not turn the ignition switch to crank the car.  The car battery is good and terminals are secure, the keyfob battery is new and test 3.3V.  I have two keys/fobs and neither will turn the ignition switch from the locked position.  Shift lever is in PARK.  The steering wheel is NOT locked (which seems odd to me), can be turned in either direction although hard due to engine not running and power steering not assisting.  I have used graphite spray lubricant in the key slot . . . which did not help or resolve the problem.  The only way I can get the car to crank is to tap on the end of the keyfob with a metal object in the direction of the key insertion while simultaneously repeatedly turning the key back and forth toward the ON then to the Lock position until it eventually trips and allows the tumbler to turn to the ON and Start position to crank. Once started, it shifts and drives flawlessly.  There are no OBDII codes and no warning lights on instrument cluster.

There are no OBDII codes

There are no OBDII codes for an ignition lock tumbler or similar mechanical problems. You need to take the lock apart to see what's going on in there.
