My car doesn't came with a temperature gauge, i saw some aftermarket gauges that can be installed in the engine hoses but the problem is that i wanna know the temperature of the coolant inside the engine and i fear that if the thermostatic valve fail while closed would show the temperature is cold while the engine is overheating. Does someone know how can i properly install one?
Use the ones that can connect to OBDII port and get the data from there.
Didn't know they existed, found one (Ancel A202) that shows speed and stuff and beeb when engine is hot / exceed speed and other stuff pretty neat!!
Well OBD scanner would be the easiest, The best way would be to have 2 sensors one entering 1 leaving engine. But 1 leaving the engine is fine, even when coolant wont flow there would still be hot air.
if your car has a warning light there will be a sensor somewhere near the thermostat. from my experience if you want to wire up an after market gauge you will need to change the temp sensor from warning light type to gauge type, for most cars there are both sensors available. all you do is get the appropriate gauge type sensor to suit your car, install that where the old sensor is and wire up the aftermarket temp gauge as per instructions supplied with the gauge.
