Good day Mr.Scotty my name is Joseph am from Namibia in Africa, I was wondering what you think of the Isuzu Dmax 2020 model its a 2.5 L diesel pick-up ( 25000KM) . I don't think they sell them in the US but in Africa they are common. I had its cousin the KB 240, 2.4 L petrol pick-up (2017 model, it had 115000km) which I just traded in with the garage, am expecting my new pick-up any time soon. the kb 240 was giving me issues like too much oil consumption with check engine light on most of the time. it was still under warranty so i kept returning it to the dealer for repairs till i decided to trade it in. Thank you.
Indeed, Isuzu no longer has a consumer car presence in America.
The first and second generation D-MAX was basically rebadged Chevy Colorado, a GM product. This may explain why you had some problems with it.
The third generation is built by Isuzu. And there is a bit of a collaboration with Mazda, this time with Mazda rebadging an Isuzu made product, instead of Isuzu rebadging a GM made product.
FWIW, the transmission in the third generation D-MAX is built by Aisin, which Toyota mainly uses for their cars.
The engine is an Isuzu product, not a GM product, so probably better in quality. I’ve never seen one. So I can’t comment directly.
Perhaps others have some insight.
