Jaguar not refuse to start when cold hit

Hello, Im from Norway and own a 1995 3,2 liter jaguar xj6 which has 170 000 km on it. Last winter I had trouble starting. The battery was dead after cold winter nights. I solved this by disconnecting the negative wire on the battary every night.

Some days ago I parked my car in a garage and disconnected the negative terminal because I was going to be away for a few days. When I came back I tried to start the car but it did not start. I have changed the battery, it has 12.6 volt using a multimeter, but even with this it did not start. When I try to start the car it gives some puffs, like it is getting spark and some fuel. What might be the issue here? The weird thing is that it started up and ran perfectly before the cold came. It went from around 0-3 degree celsius to -8 celsius which it is now.

Do I need to change distributor or matbe the spark plugs? Thank you for all respond.

Check to voltage at idle speed - should be about 14.5 volts.  If not, new alternator.

does it start if you boost from another vehicle?

Definitely check the alternator. They are a common issue on those Jags.
