Jeep Grand Cherokee service manual does not mention servicing transmission

Hi Scotty,

My wife’s 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee V6 Automatic just hit 60k miles. Nowhere in the manual does it mention changing transmission fluid(thanks Chrysler) however I want to be proactive and change it now. Do you think this is a do-able diy job or should I bring it a mechanic? I saw some diy Videos of other people changing it but it involved jacking up the transmission slightly to get access to all the pan’s bolts and following a strict fluid fill procedure since there’s no dipstick. Or would I be fine just draining/adding new fluid without dropping the pan?

Thank you for help!

Regards,

Karl

Yeah just droping thw pan and changine the fluid and filter will be fine

Thanks for the feedback. My only concern From what I’ve seen on YouTube on this car is people using a wooden block and a jack to push up the transmission a few inches in order to get clearance from the car’s frame to unscrew every bolt on the pan. Not sure how they do it at the dealer but do you think that’s a possible way to damage it?

It should be fine but if you want to use a jack that is fine you could use the jack it came with and a wood block if you dont have a floor javk

They call it a lifetime fluid and that it doesnt need to be changed but you should change it about every 30k miles
