How do I make my 2011 Altima coupé last forever?

Dear Scotty,

I have an automatic 2011 Nissan Altima 2.5 S Coupe since 2013 at 30K miles. I’m the second owner and first was my cousin.  Today the car is around 106K miles. Also, it has started every single day and doing wonderful. What recommendations and maintenance to keep this car a very long time? How long could it last? How many miles? Are “all” below still good to do? Need to change or do better at any of these?

-Oil change: every 6k miles since get Synthetic oil. (Started synthetic at 78K)

-Tire rotation: every 6k miles.

-Air filter when notified at oil change place.

-2014: new windshield because siblings shot a BB gun at cans and it bounced off and hit my windshield.

-2014?: Serpentine belt because it was to break. I don’t know how or what caused this needing to be changed.

-2017: new brakes, spark plugs, and battery change last done.

-Late 2017: car accident, I was hit hard on the front right side. All is fixed and well like nothing happened including an alignment.

Lastly, I want this car to last a very long time. I’m not the type to sell, exchange cars unless it helps a family member in need. God willing, I plan on keeping this car until it dies. I look very forward to hearing from you and your wisdom in car care.

All the best,

Ashley Holden

An Altima is just not going to last forever. That's the honest truth.

You're over 100k on it, which is basically the dice roll point for a Nissan. As @InThrustWeTrust said, check your manual for the maintenance schedule and strictly adhere to it. Also as he said, you are past due for the transmission fluid service. Due to the nature of the Nissan CVT's during that era, I would be swapping fluid every 3 years/30k miles. If it hasn't been done, I'd suggest doing it ASAP.

I don’t see any CVT transmission fluid change on your list. That’s the weakest link in your car & if it’s showing any signs of going out, I’d get rid of the car while it’s still worth something. See - https://carkiller.com/scottykilmer/postid/127776/

Other than that, probably a good time to flush your brake fluid & coolant if it’s never been touched.

What does your owner’s manual say about your periodic maintenance intervals?

Good luck!
