Hi Scotty!

Long time fan from Switzerland. On our way to adding a new member to the family and it is time to upgrade our vehicle and we have three in mind at roughly the same price point:

The NX350, backed by Lexus, the ever reliable RAV4 and the improving KIA Sportage (but still a KIA).

Any advice welcome!

Yannis

Unless the vehicles they sell in Switzerland are much higher quality than what we get in the U.S. I'd forget the Kia. See the site Hyundai/Kia topic for details.

I guess we get the same KIAs everyone does. Just thought I'd ask in case their reliability actually improved over the years, at least for newer models. Guess not (yet)

What years are you looking for? For how long do you plan to have it? Maybe @dan knows more

Hello there!
Planning to keep the car for the long haul, at the very least until the end of the warranty.
And looking to buy new, 2021 earliest we will go.
Thanks!

And of course, won't complain if the car lasts 15-20years!

2nd generation of Lexus NX and 5th of Sportage came out in 2021. I think they are still too new.
New generation of RAV4 has new engines.

How many km do you commute per year?

Thanks for taking the time GT.
When you mean the new RAV4, you mean the 2024? So not applicable to 2023?
We'd commute a total of about 25-30.000 per year on average.

You are welcome. I personally avoid first three years of a new model, generation, engine or transmission.
I don't like being a guinea pig when it comes to fixing problems that occur due to design flaws. I personally would wait some months and then buy it. But that is my opinion. Decision is yours.
Unfortunately this generation of RAV4 has no diesel engines. Only new petrols and hybrids.

The NX and the RAV4 are basically the same car underneath, built on the Camry platform. The biggest difference is that the NX is a little more premium/luxurious interior versus the RAV4.
