Hi Scotty,
Hope all is well, I've been watching your show for several years and you are a great inspiration to what I want to acquire for my future career. Could you kindly recomend a school that teaches how to modify cars. I have tried to contact Tunner School by Hennessy Performance in Texas however they are not accepting international students. I am a british citizen, Are there any other alternatives that you can recomend?
I highly apreciate your impact
Yours truly,
Romani
I don't know of any schools specifically for modifying cars. My recommendation would be look at some tech schools (the big one in my area is UTI Pennsylvania) and start there. See what programs are available, and I'd imagine that would be a great foot in the door in that industry. That is probably the best place to properly learn the skills to modify cars.
I don’t think most performance specialists go to a specific school so much as work their way up by getting experience and making connections. Several options to start with, assuming you are a qualified mechanic and willing to start at the bottom:
- get a job in a race team shop - good resume builder
- get a job in a car dealer that has racing connections (eg, Hendrick,Penske ) or sells a lot of performance engines (eg, Scoggin-Dickey)
- get a job in an engine rebuilding shop
- get a job at a custom shop (eg, Gas Monkey)
- get involved in a car club of your choice
Once you have the resume, you can look to apply at Hennessy or other big name training program.
Good luck!
Well I don't know anymore myself. And there's so many scams out there. I wouldn't hazard a guess I'd want to know them personally. Good luck though
I think you're skipping some steps. Modding isn't going to make any sense until you understand how cars work. Find a technical college near you with an automotive apprenticeship program.
