Lucas Power Steering Stop Leak? Yay or nay?

Hey it’s me again with my problem child Chevy Impala. 04, 3.4 standard 6 cylinder, 235k miles.

so as I’ve covered in a previous question, my power steering system is going bad. There seems to be some kind of leak, a bottle of steering fluid is lasting maybe a week and a half, and when it gets low my car makes a whirring sound, and is hard as heck to turn.

my question is, can I add some Lucas Power Steering stop leak, to realistically fix this and avoid a big mechanic bill for getting my power steering system fixed?

i know most “mechanic in a can” products are duds, I just wanna know if I should be worried about this messing up my car at all. Don’t have much to lose now anyway. I tried a coolant stop leak when I was having overheating problems before and it made everything worse by gunking up the radiator haha.

if anyone has experience using this product or a similar situation, would love to hear from ya! Thanks

That is a serious leak.  I doubt any additive can stop that.

Do you know where it's leaking from?

Not really sure where it’s coming from, not anywhere conspicuous, but I can see the drip on the driveway pavement.. like I said it does good for a little while when you top it off with a bottle. I’ve had to put maybe 3-4 bottles in the last 2 months. At the very least, should I go ahead and add the stopleak, or will that mess things up further? Because If I shouldn’t use the stop leak i suppose I should fill it with more steering fluid

before you go pouring goop in there, I think you need to find out what the problem is. It didn't work out for you before, did it? Instead of buying a $15 bottle of goop, you might only need to replace a $2 hose clamp.
