Hi Mr. Kilmer,
I currently drive a 2013 Subaru Impreza with a CVT. No complaints so far and it's over 100,000 km. I'm thinking of upgrading in the near future to a Crosstrek because I do love the Subaru driving experience and I do off-road driving too. With all the complaints and bashing the CVTs have been getting, do you think a manual Crosstrek would be a better choice for mixed driving?
@dene876
100.000km is 60k miles which is low miles. Manuel's are bulletproof but CVT's especially newer one's are problematic slipping at new and falling apart after 100k miles.
Manual - way more fun
the cruise control will make the longer rides feel like an automatic
How much stop/go commuting you do? That should answer your question. Nothing worse than slogging a clutch for 30 minutes in commuter traffic.
@porkchophill
I thought of that. My driving is quite mixed to be honest. I live in the city but most of my commute is early morning before traffic pile up. Some traffic does catch me later in the evening though. 3 times a week i travel up to the hills and that's a pretty clear road for the most part. I'm aiming for longevity with my next purchase, that's why I'm so iffy about the CVTs but I've seen guys who had some that lasted years.
Get a Manuel
I'm in the CVT crowd. Manuals suck in traffic, everybody knows it even if they don't admit it.
I don't keep my cars long, so I'm not worried what happens over 100k personally. Heck, I've sold a lot of my cars with 5k on them and 6 months of age. I have a problem, I know.
