Mazda CX-30 automatic transmission preventive maintenance

Hello,

I have a  question. I have an almost brand new Mazda CX-30 2020 (not any more) that  I use together with my wife.

Recently one time while she was driving she made a terrible mistake. She got used to drive manual car. And when she almost stopped at the red light she accidently moved transmission lever up from D to N and almost R. Though she told that the car was completely stopped, I swear that I heard some transmission sound.

We derive our car since then and I don't feel any problems from transmission.

Shall I still reserve the appointment with local Mazda dealer and request them to check the transmission?

I am worry that though transmission is still working OK, some metal shavings from the gears could stay in transmission fluid and that it will kill the automatic transmission later. Car components are very fragile in new cars.

Please advice what shall I do?

Shifting to 'N' is perfectly safe (for the transmission)

You said "almost R" so I don't know if it shifted or not. Usually there is about a 1 sec delay.

luckily have automatics have torque converters which can absorb some energy, so probably nothing happened. If the gear had actually engaged, you would have heard your tires chirp.

Thank you!

Don’t worry about it.
