Mercedes EQS sedan

Hello Scotty and co

Today, I spotted a Mercedes EQS on my commute, so I was wondering what your initial impressions are (since it seems like they are finally out in the US). Since this car is an EV, there are theoretically less things to break compared to a normal ICE-powered Mercedes, which we know are money pits. Would the EQS be better than the regular Mercedes or are they also doomed to be money pits?

There was a recent video from Scotty where he talks about a Hybrid Mercedes which the battery goes out at about 40k miles and when the owner takes it to get it replaced they quoted him $20k for the replacement. And the car if fully functional is only worth $16k. So I think this gives a picture of Mercedes quality, cost of repairs, and how much value they lose.

Mercedes also has issues with their air conditioning. I would not be surprised yet another article popped up saying they still had mold growing out their AC's 😂

About half of the Benz I worked on at my old German shop had AC issues. I can't imagine throwing a hybrid system or full ev into the mix(electrically). Paired with china plastic they use? Big oof.

Already have recalls. On top of that there are 18 different complaints by consumers. Most of the complaints deal with electronics.

Plenty of complex electronics to break down as well as expensive suspension, brakes, battery cooling system, HVAC, etc., parts to wear out. Time will tell but I'd be surprised if they didn't turn out to be enormous money pits when they get old.
