Have a mechanic check it out of course but they are excellent vehicles if taken care of

Honda 2017 HR-V: Small SUV, makes a good urban or commuter car, very long trips not advised but OK for short/medium distance trip. Good mileage from 1.8L I4 (conservative driving on freeway can be 38mpg +), most transmissions are CVT but manual was avail. Fair power for on-ramp or passing, but not a race car. Most buyers don't care for smallish rear window. Almost all N. America examples assembled in Mexico.

Tight fit for anyone over 6' tall, narrow driver seat not real comfortable. Reminds me of the Honda Fit, but as a SUV. Has Honda "Magic Seat", and has surprisingly spacious cargo area folding seats give more room. Handles and rides a little stiff, and like Civic you feel every small road bump and hear every noise, especially wind noise.

Easy to handle in tight traffic, easy to get into smaller parking spots, good turning radius.

Not real good in snow-belt regions unless you get AWD version, fair ground clearance but cannot use snow chains.

Base LX seems boring, EX so-so, EX-L trim is much nicer.

Edmunds currently rates annual maintenance cost in $300 - $400 range, not bad but will increase with age.

A lot of these things are used for cheap rentals and leases, and get bumped and banged and see poor maintenance, so highly recommend getting vehicle history.

These things just always seem to work, no serious issues, just get in and drive and use it. Never seems to let down unless maintenance is ignored.

BTW: Honda first called it Hi-Rider Revolutionary Vehicle, then just Hi-Rider Vehicle, now whatever you want ?
