In the UK/Europe between(2005-2013) Lexus IS XE20 2nd Gen mostly came as 2.2 Litre Diesel then from 2013 XE30 3rd Gen Hybrid only.
I'm really stuck for choice as Scotty advises to not to purchase diesel and lease hybrids.
Are Lexus IS diesel and Hybrid engine models bad to purchase secondhand?
IIRC, Scotty recommends buying Hybrids new, not used. Not sure his position on lease. He usually recommends leasing luxury cars like BMW.
IMHO, as long as it checks out, I think buying most Toyota/Lexus hybrids used is okay. I know several folks that bought them used, and got good use out of it before needing to replace the battery.
The biggest thing of concern is the battery going out, but just judging from Toyota hybrids I know, they can go at least 150,000 miles before needing a replacement. My Prius went 275,000 miles before the battery performed below expectations and needed a replacement.
I am not too familiar with the diesels. Generally speaking, diesels are built stronger than petrol and may last longer, but I am not sure about the specific models that you speak of. I’d be open to a used Toyota diesel.
Thanks mate,
will defo keep that in mind for my next car, simply bored of BMW, Audi's and the likes.
Its very hard to find a Lexus RX which is not hybrid, most are 400H models.
Between 2003 to 2008 there is RX 300, 350 and 400H but most are hybrids after 2005.
Which year and model of the RX petrol only would be recommend to purchase?
With current generation, there are less ICE and more hybrids avaliable. And they aggresively advertise last ones.
