Should I upgrade my Camry

Afternoon Scotty. Before a ask my question i just want to say its so wonderful and educational to see your many videos on the various types of vehicles that you talk about. A great job with humor on top! I have a 2015 Toyota Camry SE. Only 66k! Barely Drive. I was thinking of trading it in for a new Camry. Would it be better to keep this year as the reliability rate was 5 out of 5? I'm not sure what the ratings of the new ones are.... Thank you

Unless you are changing models (like getting a Camry Hybrid) I would keep what you have. The Camry can get 400k so there is a lot of life left in the 2015.

it would depend on how much disposable income I had.

Keep what you got.

.

The older Toyotas most likely will last longer than the newer ones.  The newer ones presumably have more planned obsolescence in them.  Of course, I am not discouraging anyone from getting a new Toyota, but in your case it makes sense to hold onto what you got.

I own a '21 Camry SE and it's pretty nice, tbh. I haven't had any problem since I got it brand new. No recalls so far. There are 2 issues you need to be aware of, tho. Paint job on the new Camry is very thin so you will pick up rock chips easily. I'm not sure if they have corrected the issue in newer model years. The second thing is the smart transmission. It was set to save fuel in the factory. If you are a zippy / fast driver, you will notice the transmission being sluggish. What you need to do is be a little aggressive on the gas AFTER THE BREAK IN PERIOD which is the first 500 miles. Then, the smart transmission will get used to your style and adjust itself.

A new Camry is rarely a bad choice, but right now is a terrible time to buy one. It took my sister over 6 months to get a blue hybrid Camry, there are almost none on the lots. And if you want a discount, the dealer will laugh at you. I'd wait a year.

Even a year from now, the situation will be dire. It’s the new normal.

@daywalker Yeah, I agree.... unfortunately this is the new normal.
I just wonder if it's ever going to feel normal.?

Keep.
