My car has an service awd light on and the dealership thinks it could be a obstruction in the transmission or an electrical problem the thing is that they are charging 480 just to diagnose the problem so I dont know what to do please help!

My car is a 2015 Chrysler 200 s AwD 3.6 L engine and has 78000 miles and they didn’t scan it or give me any codes to the problem.

Almost $500 just to scan it?!?!?!? CRAZY! Take it to a local guy for a scan. Call and shop around for scan quotes. Good luck


he didn't say just to scan. He said "diagnose the problem". That's shop rate ( plus the scan).

Gone are the days of having an auto shop offer free diagnosis.  Electronic controls are a menace.

Mechanics get burned by spending an hour or two diagnosing a problem, only to have the customer decline the repair service.

Ask more questions though.  Sometimes the "diagnosis fee" is waived when the repair is done.
