Hi. I drive a 2021 Honda Fit/Jazz 1.5 (non hybrid) with a CVT transmission. To my knowledge it does not have a torque converter but uses a start clutch system. It seems quite jerky at times, especially when there is a sudden change in throttle input. I've read that some people with older Hondas sometimes need to reset the clutch calibration due to similar behaviour. Could this be the case here as well? Did it incorrectly set the calibration this early in its life? Or is this just the nature of the transmission?
Oh god. That’s the way it was on the Audi MultiTronic - Those were smooth but needed very expensive clutch replacements. It's known to be a failed concept - No matter how much Audi engineers improved it, it still was not good enough.
It’s a terrible idea on Honda’s part and this transmission is very likely to fall apart fast.
While Toyota re-invented the small car with the Toyota Yaris XP210 (As far as powertrain, that's a Corolla) Honda seems to have reinvented "cheap". Instead of adding a launch gear, Honda has cheaped out on a torque convertor.
Go to Honda, no one really knows how to fix or maintain these.
It’s a new car - it should not have ANY transmission jerk or feel! Do not accept the “it’s normal” answer.
It's under warranty, make them fix it.
