Hey Scotty, I have a question, how long does it take to issue a recall on a car? Why does it seem to take a long time from the time where they discover there is an issue, to deciding it needs to be recalled to actually noticing the owners? I understand the manufacture tries to fight it and say it isnt their issue so they dont have to fix it for free, but can you explain the process a bit? Love your videos thanks,

Any manufacturer it all goes off the number of that model they have some and are on the road and it takes a certain percentage of those vehicles to have that same problem to warrant a recall. If it doesn’t meet that criteria but still a common concern it can warrant a service bulletin but not an recall: but manufacturers can’t really deny a problem to prevent a recall it’s all off of percentages of vehicles
Do you know the range of that %?
It varies from my understanding it’s the amount of cars that have had the concern compared to the amount of vehicles on the road. Unless it’s a blatant safety concern that could cause injury
What if its a problem that spans across multiple companies? So like if a 3rd party made a faulty turbo, then sold it to ford, chevy & kia, and the turbos were all cracking or catching fire or something.
If it was a concern of catching fire and enough of them were doing it the in my opinion it would warrant a recall but again it goes off of Highway safety advisory taking into the amount of reports of said concern compared to the amount of the vehicles effected on the road currently
