Hey y’all! I have a question/concern about buying new tires for my Honda. For starters, I will tell you about my car and where I am thinking of buying them. I have had my Honda Accord for about a year now ( will be a full year in February). A family Freind of my who is into the mechanics of cars found it on Facebook market place and we decided to check it out. They were asking $6000 and I ended up paying that price. I should have bought it for a lower price after seeing it had a salvage title from NY. So far, I have had no issues or major work done. Only the basic maintenance like changing the brake pads, oil, air filter, cabin filter, and oil filter. The tires are starting to wareout on the right side and this uneven wear could be due to the fact that it is a fwd and the tires don’t match. I was think of buying brand new tires from discount tires but I’m a little hesitant looking at the price. The guy gave me a range of tires I could chose from. The high end is michelle, with the ones I’m looking at costing around $1019 for all 4. The cheapest ones they got are sentury, coasting about $452 for all 4. Other costs I am looking at is the installation cost, which is $100 for all four, and new tpms sensors ($240 for all four). The guy told me I don’t need to install me tpms sensors but the light is coming on in my dash and has been since I bought it. What do y’all recommend? Any tips?

Wait a minute. You say the tyres are wearing unevenly because it’s a FWD with different tread patterns?

Before you do anything to the car/tyres, take your car to a good/reputed front end shop and ask them to diagnose the cause of the uneven wear.

Most likely it’s due to wreck damage from being a salvage title. However, get them to check the alignment and fix it first. Just throwing new tyres at the car will not fix the uneven wear if the chassis is damaged/out of spec.

After the alignment is fixed, buy yourself a set of Michelins/BFG/Goodyear/Yoko/any good branded tyre. Never buy the cheapest Chinese rubbish.

If the TPMS is bothering you, sure go ahead & install new sensors. Personally I’d just leave them as is since it’s not a critical system & you can install a good aftermarket system for much cheaper.

Good luck.
