I know of someone who's transmission has failed in their 2017 Rogue. They are 3000 miles over the warranty, the car was not bought at a Nissan dealership. The store won't fix the transmission for free. I explained this but they are still looking for a solution. Would going to Nissan help? I would recommend they ask the question themselves on this site but they may be intimidated. Is there any remedy?
If the car is beyond the warranty period you have no legal remedy.
It's unlikely that Nissan would help as they are under no obligation to do so. However if you don't ask you definitely won't receive help so you might as well explore that option. They might agree to cover part of the cost but you'll likely have to bypass regular customer support and go to the top.

Even if your transmission were to break down 0.1 mile past the warranty period, they don't care. Unfortunately, if Nissan tried to care, they would be trying to source anything other than those notoriously bad Jatco FWD transmissions and CVTs to be put into newer Rogues -which hasn't happened. Nissan doesn't care. Those transmissions have been in there since the Rogue's launch in 2007.
Ever since Renault took over Nissan 25 years ago, quality has been in perpetual decline. Nissan is also basically bankrupt, Honda considered buying Nissan a few months ago and went another direction. It's a shame what Renault has done to Nissan.
