I have a 2000 honda accord with 180k miles. Recent fixed a leak in the coolant system(hose that connects to the heater core) and now my heat isn't working. I like in ohio and its winter! Please help

If it was working fine before replacing the hose my first guess would be that you have air trapped in the system. Did you set your temperature selector all the way to hot while refilling with coolant?

No. I didnt know to do that. It may have already been but I'm gonna say it probably wasnt. So there's probably air in the system?

Yes. The heater core is typically the highest point in the cooling system and air gets trapped there. Also, if you don't open the valve to the heater core by turning your temperature selector to Hot, coolant does not reach it as you refill.

Park facing uphill. open heat to full hot, run it for a while to burp the air out of it and top it up.

Parked it facing up hill now. Running for a bit. Few background things to add, topped off coolant last night and didnt run but the reservoir was empty this afternoon so I filled to about half way between min and mac. This evening its empty again but I'm not noticing any leaks. Only thing showing on payment is from where I spilled adding coolant. After running for a while my temp gauge is about 3 quarters up. Close to hot

so the system is still taking coolant. Keep going.

Just noticed the hose to heater core (the one I recently replaced) is hot to the touch. Does this indicate a clogged heater core?

Edit: only one hose(lower hose to heater) is hot. The other is cold

it could be! (assuming pump is ok)
Try to send water through it with a garden hose
