I have a 2004 Saturn Vue with a Honda 3.5 automatic with around 136,000 miles.
The valves are very noisy especially at start up. I can actually feel a vibration through the vehicle. After the engine runs for about 30 minutes things start to sound and feel more normal. At highway speeds it seems to quiet down and run the best with no vibration. The engine still has just as much power as when it was new in spite of the issue.
The timing belt water pump and so on was changed at around 100,000 miles. The spark plugs have been changed also.
I personally adjusted the valves once with fail. The second time I had a friend with professional engine experience adjust them and they are still noisy.
I don't know what else to do. The Honda dealer won't touch it because it's a Saturn and if I took it to a GM dealer it would be pointless. I wish I knew a Honda technician that might be familiar with my issue or at least point me in the right direction.
Note: Saturn was so successful it made their investors question GM on why all of their other divisions weren't as well. GM decided it was easier to make Saturn go away so they wouldn't have to fix all of their other divisions. In other words Saturn did so well with quality and sales that they made all of the other GM divisions look bad.
Well if the valves are adjusted correctly and believe me on that V6 engine there's 24 of them and it is a real job to do correctly. But if it was done correctly then your engine has internal where and it's cracking away and that basically you would just live with unless you want to rebuild the engine which would be kind of crazy on metal thing. But do get a stethoscope a lot of times. The fuel injectors click and annoys might be coming from them
