Scotty I know GM products are garbage, I was just curious if a v6 or v8 Camaro was driven normal in this case if they are long lasting vehicles I drive normal not fast but wouldn’t mind a camaro new or used the goal is to have long term no real issues do you think it’s a combination of gm quality or driving habits or either or?

Something @mod_man should have frequent experience with.

The drivetrains can last but everything around them falls apart. For GM, its usually electrical and the Camaro is no different.

Is the Camaro as finicky as the Corvette? Also, for the newer Camaros, what is the consensus on the LT1 engine after all these years?

I don't think it is as finicky as the Corvette. Corvette always has the very latest tech for GM so there are more things to go wrong. The LT1 is ok I suppose. Had some growing pains I know but not much different reliability-wise than the L99 or LS3 motors.

What about the LT4 engine in the ZL1? I know in the Corvette Z06 it had overheating issues but how is it holding up in the ZL1?

It is pretty much the same from what I've heard. Not too many floating around the area at the moment, but I've heard of some overheating problems.

Well yes generally if you buy a muscle car and you don't drive it fast it can last a long time just think if it's made to go 180 mph and you only drive 80 it's going to last a lot longer

It will last, but it will become expensive to keep in working order.

My family has had GM cars since the 90's only issue we ever had was with my dads work vehicle, it was the first year (I think) of the GMC terrain with the 4cyl that had bad rings. Motor was replaced by the dealer under warranty & it was good. Had a crazy high mileage buick that we sold, some trucks, cars, suvs... old & new. Honestly if you take car of a car you'll easily get to 150k as long as it isnt an absolute turd. Im in the philly suburbs, people dont usually put that many miles on a car here, noone I know has a car with over 150k unless they do a ton of highway driving for work. People eventually just want a new car. Sure if you want to drive your car until it literally dies get a Toyota, in general they last the longest, but how many people think that way with their cars? Im from a blue collar town so its not like we're snobby either XD, I still drive my 2000 Camaro, and recently bought a new WRX that I learned how to drive stick on 🙂

Avoid any new generation of a car though, idc who makes it, give new models time.
