Hi,
I had a question regarding my Honda CRV 2001, I know my engine is B20Z2 and I had a broken valve. My car ran fine before with no bad smoke or burning oil.
So I have sent it for Head Engine repair, they removed only the engine head from the car, redone the Engine head block, new 16 valves, new gasket, and new seals. The problem was after the assembly of the engine the car started burning oil. What I noticed is that the OEM Valve seals have marked NOK EX and NOK IN.
They said they put all 16 Valve Seals, not OEM, and the same type because they could not find the OEM ones. Now for the second time, they put 16 OEM NOK EX Seals (all marked NOK EX), and once assembled I have still the same problem. Bad smell of smoke coming out once I start the car and when accelerating from 1st gear at a stop light.
Could it be that I have to install Intake Valve Seals on Intake Valves and not all 16 NOK EX marked ones?
Also, the mechanics told me that they checked the valve guides and they look good. I doubt that still.
I checked the Service Manual of Honda for CRV RD1 Models. I noticed that say Valve Seals are not interchangeable. And also noticed that when they list the dimensions of the Intake and Exhaust Valves they are slightly different in measurement.
Hope somebody helps as it is my daily driving car and now I can't run it while it is in this condition.
Thank you.
Well let me tell you this if you just work on ahead and replace the head gasket on a warrant engine. Especially when that old that increases the pressure inside and worn piston rings will then start burning oil. I've seen that a thousand times now. I can't say what kind of work those guys did on the head whether they did it right or not. But I've seen so many guys do head gasket jobs and then they start burning oil on an old engine because the rings are worn and the extra pressure of the new clean head and valves just made it start burning oil past the piston rings
