Scotty,

Longtime viewer, first time question.

I’ll be taking delivery of a new F150 Powerboost after the first of the year.  What’s you pr opinion about installing a oil catch can?   Being a powerboost it’s the 3.5L twin turbo.  Some say the catch can improves engine longevity and a great investment.   Others say don’t bother.

wgat does Scotty say?

Appreciate all you do and help you provide.

Just realize Ford may deny warranty claim in some cases if there is a catch can installed, or at least make it tougher to get a warranty claim honored.

Yes, absolutely add a catch can to any Ecoboost Ford. It will mitigate problems for you in the long run. However, being a Powerboost which is really an experiment for Ford I would be very surprised to see that powertrain make it to 100-150k trouble free. DO NOT miss any preventative maintenance on that truck. The 3.5 eats spark plugs, change them every 60k mi,  change oil every 3k mi regardless if its synthetic. And change that 10 speed transmission fluid and filter every 30k mi and baby it, the 10 speed has plenty of documented issues and even class actions against Ford for it.

Scotty, Team,

Thanks for your replies and follow-up. I appreciate all you do for us.
