Hi Scotty, love your videos!
For a first car, I got a 2013 Toyota Corolla, 200k km (199k when I got it).
Runs like a clock and handles great (built in Canada, haha).
I'm trying to learn how to change the engine oil myself, how do I do it on these, and how often?
Would it be better if I just take it to a dealer and let them handle it (like my parents tell me, since they got a 2011 Sienna and they've let the toyota dealer handle it since they bought it fresh off the lot in 2010, it's got 230k)
What do you think?
Thanks to youtube, you can see exactly how to do it.
It is good to be able to do some of your own maintenance, you save money, and don't get ripped off as easily. It can also be very satisfying when you do it yourself.
You will likely save enough on your first oil change to cover the cost of the ramps.
Just a suggestion, be careful not to cross thread the oil drain plug when you put it back on. It should screw in nice and easy until you get close to the washer. Also be careful not to tighten it like crazy, once you get to the washer you will feel the resistance, it will likely only be about a quarter turn before it is nice and tight. You just have to get a feel for it.

All this information is provided in the FAQs under Maintenance. If you have further questions we'll be happy to help.
Here's a video showing the procedure: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yClni00MCo8
There are plenty of youtube videos showing how to change oil. It's a pretty simple job but you do need some tools. Easiest way to get the front of the car high enough is a good set of ramps.
Oil and filter should be changed every 5000 miles or after 1 year, whichever comes first.

No!
Why let a dealer screw something up. Learn to do it yourself. It's easy.
