Scotty love the channel. I have a 2008 toyota tacoma 4.0 with 6speed manual transmission and 150000 miles. I use 5w30 now would it be bad idea to change to the new 0w oils they have out now what do you suggest I run in my truck.

You can use the 0w30 it flows better at extremely cold temperature in winter since they're designed for any outside temperature.

Use the recommended viscosity which is 5W-30.

The owners manual doesn't recommended a '0' winter weight for the 4.0 L V6 (1GR−FE).

"SAE 5W−30 is the best choice for good fuel economy, and good starting in cold weather. If SAE 5W−30 oil is not available, SAE 10W−30 oil may be used. However, it should be replaced with SAE 5W−30 at the next oil change"

that's because '0w' didn't exist when the manual was written. It is a better oil.

nope. This is a discussion forum for discussing.
Even though I do my best to advise from my research, understanding, and experience, there will always be somebody wiser and things I don't know, and I am by no means the final authority.

Yes, you are safe using 0W-30 instead of 5W-30. In fact, you are better off with the 0W-30.
