I recently bought a 2008 Silverado Regular Cab Long Bed with the 4.3L V6. It had less than 47,000 actual miles when I bought it, and still has less than 50,000. The truck is beautiful, in nearly show room condition. The dealership has a good reputation for selling good quality vehicles and reconditioning them before selling. With a truck (or any vehicle for that matter) that old with so few miles, is there anything to be concerned about possibly becoming a problem? I plan to tow a relatively light (3500 pound) camping trailer and don't want to be surprised on the road.
Love your videos.
If allowed, here is the dealer's 1:11 long video of this truck so you can see it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h8TYBJke8cY
Since it is from a dealer, I would be suspicious of everything. They all look nice after detailing. Hope you got a warranty with it.
I agree with @doc
Get it thoroughly inspected by a professional mechanic, before any nasty surprises.
If you find major issues, return it (if able) or get rid of it.
He said he already bought it.
Oops! Thanks for waking me up
Well, it's a nice looking truck for sure. even the tires are shinny.
I wish it would have included the undercarriage though.
and i'm a little concerned that the V-6 will have enough torque to haul 3500 pounds around.
go with these other guys with more mechanical knowledge and have it checked over by an other shop. even though you have already purchased it, another set of eyes is still a good idea
it's not going to have very much git-up-and-go
My trusted Mechanic did a thorough inspection and he was amazed at its condition. He couldn't find any current problems or issues. Even the undercarriage was free of rust. The rubber under the hood all looks good.
Must have been a maintenance or grounds vehicle that was rarely used. Our local school district gets new pickups every few years and the ones they send back to the dealer are always well taken care of.
It should be fine. I have a chevy trailblazer with a 4.2 straight six and it pulls my bass boat with no problems. I even have pulled it up in the mountains no problems. It will pull my dads 20 foot pioneer center console with no problem. I pull in 3rd gear but it does fine.
Thanks. In response to this, I have never towed before. I pulled the camper (dry weight of 2800lbs) back from Dayton, OH area to north of Albany, NY. It has a tow/haul system, which I used. Although it did seem to struggle on some of the bigger hills, it did fine. Since I have never towed before, I cannot tell if this is normal or if its just a bit underpowered.
