Original Heater Hoses Replaced

Hi:  I'm replacing the original heater hoses and connectors on my 2006 Chevy Suburban.  It's a 5.3 L with 209,000 miles.  My question is since I lost a substantial amount of coolant from the water pump hoses so I want to make sure I get it filled back up correctly so don't any advice so I overheat my precious Suburban?  Lol.  Thanks! 😆

Now I am looking at some videos posted by random DIY'ers on Youtube that say they are changing from Dexcool to the traditional green coolant and their vehicles run cooler. Is there any merit to that???

No.  Whatever coolant is on sale will work just fine, but you have to properly burp all the air out of the system to avoid hot spots and a blown head gasket.

No. Coolant temp is controlled by the thermostat.

Change your pressure cap, and keep an eye on the coolant often to make sure it's at the correct level.
