Hello, I have Nissan Pulsar N16 2005, Sedan, Automatic, 1.8L.

The engine temperature is fluctuating between middle to hot after driving for 20-25kms. I have shown the mechanic, he says the radiator fan is not working at hot temperatures, it only works when air con is turned on. so he says, the radiator fan must be replaced. I am not sure if there might be wiring problems or not, since he did not check wiring of the radiator fan.

Can you confirm it to me please.

If the fan works when the AC is on the problem is not the fan. Probably the 17-year-old temperature sensor that operates the fan needs to be replaced

Even if I turn on the AC, the engine overheats.

The point is that if your cooling fan works with the AC then the fan is not your problem. The "mechanic" should have realized this upon seeing the fan working with the air conditioning. His recommendation to replace the fan simply does not compute.

It's a 17-year-old car. How old is the thermostat? The radiator? The radiator hoses? Did you read the FAQ entry on this site that has suggestions on how to find out why a car is overheating?
