Hey Scotty the Honda Odyssey is rated top 1 and puts down a sienna hybrid on 3rd and of course you or the crappy Kia's and pacificas for the parents

I read this on a recent issue of the magazine what seems to be this under best family cars and yet they put a Chrysler mini van on the list

Magazine car awards are worthless. Take them with a grain of salt.

Keep in mind these awards don't consider quality or reliability. That in mind, its pretty accurate. The Chrysler Pacifica is a nice comfortable minivan with a lot of features, the Honda Odyssey is more practical than the Sienna and drives a lot better. Sienna is top pick for reliability is what I want to say, but no thanks to a hybrid.

This list probably, in the real world, could be used for which minivan to rent on a holiday trip. Long term, you shouldn't be buying any new minivan, let basically a Fiat, a hybrid, or a Honda with a 10 speed automatic.

When I had my third kid, we bought a 2010 Chevy Traverse. It was the biggest mistake of my life. That thing was falling apart every 20,000 miles and the engine completely blew at 115k, and that's with good maintenance.

Now I'm in an Odyssey and it's pretty nice. I'm hoping that the 10 speed ZF transmission is a good one because I intend to have that van for a few hundred thousand miles.

What do you mean by “you or the crappy Kia’s and Pacifica’s for the parents”?  Anyhow, if someone wants a minivan and they care about longevity and putting as many trouble-free miles as possible, I would only recommend the last generation Toyota Sienna (preferably with the 6-speed).  I don’t care what a magazine says:  do they work on cars in real life?

The new Sorrento's are big and do have a small engine that holds up and Scotty said that some Kia's has engine problem
