Hello. I have a 2024 Ford Mustang Ecoboost Automatic 10 Speed. I have been dealing with an issue with my rear and it has progressively gotten worse and worse. A car merged into my lane as I was accelerating and gently nudged my rear passenger tire. It made a dent near that panel. Ever since then, I felt the car change forever.
I've taken it to countless dealers while under warranty and they all have said "We don't feel anything." It's a new car so everything looks shiny. Useless shop foremans have all bragged about how experienced they are, but can't even feel the issue with the car. Have blamed it on tires. Have blamed it on alignment. Have blamed it on brakes.
So here is the issue..the car brand new and straight out of the factory felt pristine! Even! Equal! Light! Like a knife! But now..
•Acceleration/decceleration is heavy. Sluggish.
•Switching lanes sharply feels wobbly. Before it felt even and light. Effortless.
•Got an alignment and it was off on that wheel, but overall the same issue persisted where it just felt heavy.
•Canyons and corners, the car doesn't feel as confident. Going through the canyons with the same intensity as before is impossible because the rear starts slipping and the tires begin screeching.
•My front driver side brakes/rotor has been wearing down faster than all the other ones. It feels like the car's computer is trying to compensate for the rear's imbalance. Turning off traction control makes the car feel more balanced and linear, though the sluggishness still persists. So I'm guessing the computer is trying to compensate for the rear's injury.
•There's lots of play in the rear. When in park, if I attempt to rock the car..it sways excessively front to back and back to front. One mechanic lifted the car up in his lift and I attempted to rock the wheels, but the only play I felt was in the axle where it was moving front and back. Not really in the wheel's up and down. More just front to back.
•No control arms or any of that is bent. Other than the alignment that was off.
•No leaks or anything. Everything looks shiny.
•Initially it was only the right one, but it has progressed to the left side feeling wobbly and such. The passenger side is still the worse one by far.
•Imperfect/poor maintained roads amplify clunks in the rear. Sounds like a piece of plastic broke and is rattling quietly. Speed bumps introduce creaking like a boat.
•The decceleration is horrendous. It feels so heavy and wears down my tires and brakes excessively fast. Before it was so light and responsive. Now it's like I'm pulling a wagon and I'm the horse.
•There have been a few times where I have accelerated while on imperfect roads or on wet road and it felt like something is struggling to shift in the back and there's a "hiccup." I don't think it's the transmission.
Now if you ask me. I believe it's the rear axle shafts. I feel like the impacted side is seized and just has worn down drastically. I feel like if I replace them and the retainer ring or whatever, I should feel no play and the car should come back to life. If worse comes to worse. it's the differential. Differential housing. Pinions. But hopefully not.
PLEASE HELP!
Well obviously it damaged something if the tires is screeching and it's messed somehow with the suspension system. And that's also part of the drivetrain back there. You're going to have to find a good mechanic to check it out to see what's going on. If you're anywhere near Portsmouth Rhode Island, I check them out free during the weekdays to help people out. You obviously have a problem and when something hits a curb things can be bent by just a few thousandths of an inch to cause problem s
@scottykilmer we all wish we had you next door so we can bother you all day. But alright. I appreciate your response!
