Hey, i have a 2000 honda accord ex v6, automatic transmition, and 233,000 miles on it and i just replaced my power steering pump and high pressure hose but after bleeding it and driving a few day the steering is still a little tough to turn. Not too hard for me but im wondering if this is normal? I can also still heat a faint squeel if I turn the wheel while parked. Very faint tho. Thank you for your time.
I bought the cheapest pump autozone had
there's your problem
Dang maybe it just because it's cheap but it still carries the fluid to where it needs to be so I don't see why it wouldn't feel smooth anyway
Check for proper drive belt tension.
Thank you I'll do that
So I just checked it and readjusted it and it's not that. It's still pulling fluid through my system and I have no air in the system. I do have a little too much fluid but I don't see how that can affect my ability to turn the wheel. It's new fluid and everything. I'm wondering if maybe this year of honda is supposed to have some resistance to the steering? Or maybe since I bought the cheapest pump autozone had ? But still if it's carrying fluid to where it needs to be I don't see what else could cause this
I hope the pump you bought at AutoZone had a limited, lifetime warranty.
Has a limited life time guarantee
How, exactly, did you bleed the air out of the system?
I jacked the front of the car up and tuned the wheel back and forth with the p.s. reservoir open. Idk maybe there's supposed to be slight drag to the steering when I'm in idle. It's not horrible it's just not perfect you know
